Andover Community - Living in Andover

Welcome to the town of Andover, a small New England community of approximately 3,600 residents.  Quietly nestled in the hills of Northeastern Connecticut,  Andover is rich in Nature and Hiking Trails. Many small rivers and streams flow through this town including the Hop River, Burnap Brook, Staddle Brook and the Skunkamaug River. The Bear Swamp Brook runs through the Nathan Hale State Forest in the Northeast section of town. Bishop Swamp, part of the State owned Bishop Conservation Area encompasses 3 acres In the Southwest corner of town.

Andover Lake, a 155 acre private lake located in the Southeast corner of town provides lots of recreational opportunities for all. The Doris Chamberlain Nature Preserve includes a small pond and walking trails located on rt 316 near School Road.  Andover is a very rural New England town with farmlands, historic homes and stone walls galore. The original Town Hall of 1893 houses the Town Museum operated by the Historical Society. The new Town Hall is located on School Road.

Passing through Andover is the Hop River State Park Trail  a 6 mile gravel and compact earth trail that is part of the 3000 mile East Coast Greenway  Connecting Bolton and Columbia at the town lines. This trail provides for walking, bicycling and equestrian use.  The Veteran Memorial Field provides Baseball Recreational Fields.  At the time of the incorporation of the town of Andover there was a population of about 500. Currently the town population has grown to over 3,600 people.
