Historic Districts and Landmarks

The town that we know today started as a small village of homes, churches, schools, and mills in the 18th and 19th centuries. Several of these historic buildings still stand today, including the Columbia Congregational Church (located in the church's third building, constructed in 1832), the Wheelock House (built in 1735), The Meeting Place (the town's former public library, built in 1903), and the Saxon B. Little Public Library (a renovated 20th-century farmhouse).
